10th anniversary of the massacre of Reçak in the new postage stamp

On the 10th anniversary of the massacre of Reçak, Post of Kosovo Philately launched a new postage stamp titled “10th anniversary of the massacre of Reçak-Reçak today”,  with the aim to remember the martyrs, their family members and the grave tragedy that happened not only to the residents of Reçak but also the entire Kosovo.    

Municipality of Shtime has on Thursday 15 January 2009 organized a ceremony, wherein employees of the PTK J.S.C. were invited to attend the promotion of a special postage stamp in honor of the war martyrs and those who revealed the truth.

“This release of postage stamp titled “10th anniversary of the massacre of Reçak”, has a significant meaning not only for us as the newest state in the world but also for the entire humankind, as this date and this place reminds us a history that happened ten years ago, the most terrible history of the new era, the history of aggression that aimed to enslave an entire nation by committing massacres, and on the other side the history of resistance and self-sacrifice, always led by the holy ideal of our nation called FREEDOM”, said on this occasion Prof. Dr. Shyqyri Haxha, Chief Executive Officer of the PTK J.S.C.

Mr. Naim Ismaili, Mayor of Shtime Municipality, said that today’s solemn act of promoting a postage stamp of the PTK makes us feel easier, as this makes sure that the citizens of Reçak and Shtime Municipality are not alone, but they have the support of the society and institutions.

On this occasion, Mr. Ismaili received the postage stamp and first day cover.  
The main manifestation was organized at the town of Shtime, wherein ambassador William Walker received from the PTK a plaque with a postage stamp that portrays him.

Ambassador Walker told to those present it was a coincidence, as during the meeting he had with the PTK Chief Executive Officer the day before he had told him about his passion for stamp collecting, but never thought that one day he would have a postage stamp with his own picture on it.
